Why upgrade

These brackets mount Wilwood Forged Dynalite 120-13839 calipers over 280mm front rotors on the NA and NB MX-5. That’s up from the factory 235mm rotors on the NA and 255mm on the NB. They’re machined from T6-6061 billet aluminium, hard anodised, and fitted with stainless steel Heli-Coils so the threads hold up over time.

Will it fit my car?

Built for the Mazda MX-5 NA and NB. You’ll also need:

HFM.Parts 280mm two-piece front rotors
A pair of Wilwood Forged Dynalite 120-13839 calipers and pads to suit
1/8″ NPT to M10 x 1.0mm caliper fittings to connect the brake lines to the Wilwood inlets

Fitting

Remove the hub and the three 12mm bolts holding the backing plate, then refit the hub and torque the hub nut to 167–216Nm (123–159 ft-lb). Fit the bracket with the logo facing the inside of the car and torque the bolts to 60Nm (45 ft-lb). Mount the caliper with the spring washer first, then the flat washer, and torque to 60Nm (45 ft-lb). Fit the inlet fittings to the calipers with Loctite 262 or equivalent, bleed the brakes and check nothing rubs. Full steps are in the MXWIL280 install guide.

Fit perfectly on my S13, with just a little bit of trimming of the knuckle and caliper. Used a set of Infiniti Q60/Q70 rear calipers, exactly the same as 370Z and more readily available. Any of the Akebono calipers with 4101 casting number should work.

I recently upgraded my Nissan S15 with these brake rotors and caliper adapters, and I am thoroughly impressed with their products and service.
