Why delete the hard line

The factory MX-5 NA and NB clutch line runs through a hard line, a rubber hose and a pig-tail loop. It is slow to bleed, and the rubber section expands with heat. Our MX-5 line replaces the whole assembly with one braided line from the master to the slave. The shorter, more direct path makes bleeding quicker and gives a more responsive pedal.

On the 86 ZN6 and BRZ ZC6, our line connects straight to the clutch master and bypasses the factory hard line. The stainless braiding keeps line expansion down, so the pedal stays firm and consistent.

Standards and fitting

Both lines comply with FMVSS 106, DOT, TUV and ADR. FMVSS 106 testing includes a -45°C to 146°C temperature test and a 24-hour salt corrosion resistance test. The factory hard line comes off the car on both. Bleed the clutch with fresh fluid until the pedal is firm, and check both ends for leaks before driving. We recommend installation by a licensed mechanic.

What to pair it with

The clutch system is already open, so it is a good time to replace the master. The MX-5 NA and NB has a Geomet® coated clutch master. The 86 and BRZ has a 5/8″ clutch master upgrade for a clearer engagement point, and a CR40 chromoly clutch pivot ball. Both clutch masters carry our lifetime warranty.
