Push-type or pull-type

RB25 and RB26 gearboxes came with either a push-type or a pull-type slave, and the two are not interchangeable:

Push-type: R32 GTR built before February 1993, R32 GTS-T and R33 GTS-T. Use the big bore push-type slave.

Pull-type: R32 GTR from February 1993, R33 and R34 GTR, R34 GTT and Stagea 260RS and RS-Four. Use the big bore pull-type slave.

A lot of these cars have been converted over the years, so compare the slave on your car with our product images before ordering. You can also send us a photo and we will confirm.

Big bore or factory size

Heavy-duty and multi-plate clutches make for a heavy pedal. Our big bore slaves go from the factory 3/4″ to 13/16″, which needs less pressure to move the fork, so the pedal gets lighter with the same clutch. For the Silvia S13, S14, 180SX and R32 GTS-T, the 3/4″ clutch slave is a direct replacement for Nissan 3062069F703 and works with the factory clutch master.

Setting free play

The factory push rod is a fixed length. Aftermarket clutches, pivot balls and thrust bearing carriers all change where free play ends up. Our big bore slaves come with an adjustable rod, and replacement adjustable push rods are sold in 49mm (push-type) and 52mm (pull-type). Doing the master at the same time? Is my Skyline gearbox push-type or pull-type?

Push-type: R32 GTR built before February 1993, R32 GTS-T and R33 GTS-T, which take our big bore push-type slave. Pull-type: R32 GTR from February 1993, R33 and R34 GTR, R34 GTT and Stagea 260RS and RS-Four, which take our big bore pull-type slave. Many cars have been converted, so check your slave first.

Why fit a 13/16″ big bore clutch slave on an RB25 or RB26?

A 13/16″ big bore clutch slave gives a lighter pedal with a heavy-duty or multi-plate clutch on RB25 and RB26 gearboxes. Going up from the factory 3/4″ bore means less pressure is needed to move the clutch fork. Both HFM.Parts big bore slaves come with an adjustable push rod to set free play.

What length adjustable clutch slave push rod do I need?

HFM.Parts adjustable clutch slave push rods come in 49mm for push-type slaves and 52mm for pull-type slaves. They are replacement rods for our big bore slaves, and let you reset free play after fitting an aftermarket clutch, pivot ball or thrust bearing carrier.
