Brakes guide

Keep your calipers or step up to new ones

The simplest upgrade is a bigger rotor on the calipers you already have. Our rotors and billet caliper adapters take a Skyline R32 GTR from 296mm to 324mm front rotors, or an R33 GTR from 324mm to 354mm, while keeping the factory calipers. For more bite, our adapters mount swapped calipers such as the 370Z Akebono, 350Z Brembo or Kia Stinger Brembo. If you would rather not hunt for used calipers, our brake kits include new Wilwood calipers, rotors, brackets and braided lines in one box.

Match the pedal and lines to the brakes

Bigger calipers need more fluid, so a bigger bore master cylinder is the usual next step for a firmer pedal with less travel. Braided brake lines cut hose flex, and our hard line delete kits suit the bigger kits. Keep the kit running with Wilwood brake pads in street or track compounds, and speed bleeders, pressure bleeder caps and push rod tools from brake accessories.

Check your wheels first

Bigger rotors need room inside the wheel. Our 324mm front kits for factory Skyline and Silvia calipers need 17″ wheels or larger, while the 340mm rear kit for 350Z Brembos and the 350mm rear kit need 18″. Each product page lists the minimum wheel size and what is included.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need new calipers to fit bigger brakes on my Skyline or Silvia?

No. HFM.Parts rotors and billet caliper adapters let you keep the factory calipers, taking an R32 GTR from 296mm to 324mm front rotors or an R33 GTR from 324mm to 354mm. If you want new calipers without hunting for used ones, our brake kits include Wilwood calipers, rotors, brackets and braided lines.

Do I need a bigger master cylinder after fitting a big brake kit?

Usually, yes. Bigger calipers need more fluid, so a bigger bore brake master cylinder is the usual next step for a firmer pedal with less travel. The 27mm BM57 suits Skyline, Silvia, 180SX and 300ZX cars running 4-piston calipers, and there are 27mm upgrades for the 350Z, 370Z, 86 and BRZ.

What wheel size do I need for HFM.Parts big brakes?

It depends on the kit. The HFM.Parts 324mm front kits that keep factory Skyline and Silvia calipers need 17 inch wheels or larger, while the 340mm rear kit for 350Z Brembos and the 350mm rear kit need 18 inch wheels. Every product page lists the minimum wheel size before you order.
