Suspension & Chassis guide

86 and BRZ: geometry and chassis movement

Lowering an 86 ZN6 or BRZ ZC6 upsets the steering geometry. Our high misalignment tie rod ends give 64 degrees of misalignment and up to 15mm of bump steer correction in 5mm steps. If you run adjustable rear toe arms, the eccentric lockout kit stops the adjustment slipping under hard driving.

For less movement under power, the semi-rigid subframe spacers and diff spacers fill the voids around the factory bushes. Both are hard anodised T6-6061 aluminium and need no modifications. The rear member brace reuses the two factory member bolts and takes about 10 minutes to fit.

MX-5 NA and NB: alignment that stays put

Worn factory camber bolts let the alignment wander. Our 12.9 grade eccentric camber bolts come as a full car set of 6 long and 2 short bolts for the NA and NB. On a lowered NA, the 12mm steering rack spacers raise the rack to reduce bump steer, in about 15 minutes.

Getting it right

Any change to steering or suspension geometry should be followed by a wheel alignment. Check each product page for the exact fitment list before you order.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need tie rod ends after lowering my Toyota 86 or Subaru BRZ?

Usually yes, if you want to correct bump steer. The HFM.Parts high misalignment tie rod ends for the 86 ZN6 and BRZ ZC6 give 64 degrees of misalignment and up to 15mm of bump steer correction in 5mm steps. Get a wheel alignment after fitting.

Do the 86 and BRZ subframe spacers need a wheel alignment?

No. The HFM.Parts semi-rigid subframe spacers for the Toyota 86 ZN6 and Subaru BRZ ZC6 fill the voids around the factory bushes without changing ride height, so no alignment is needed. They need no modifications and take about 20 to 30 minutes on a hoist.

Which camber bolts fit the Mazda MX-5 NA and NB?

The HFM.Parts 12.9 grade eccentric camber bolts fit both the MX-5 NA and NB. They come as a full car set of 6 long and 2 short bolts, and replace worn factory bolts that let the alignment wander.
