Braided Brake Lines guide
Factory rubber brake lines flex under pressure, and that shows up as a soft, spongy pedal. HFM.Parts braided lines are stronger than the factory rubber lines, so the pedal feels firmer and more consistent. Every line is made in Melbourne and complies with FMVSS 106, DOT, TUV and ADR. FMVSS 106 testing includes a -45°C to 146°C temperature test and a 24-hour salt corrosion resistance test.
Most of our lines are slightly longer than factory to allow for the bigger rotors in HFM.Parts brake kits. Hard line delete lines remove the short factory hard line section, so check each product page for exactly what it replaces. Some lines are made for one brake kit:
Lines are sold front or rear, and as front and rear sets for the MX-5 NA and NB and the 86 and BRZ. The Silvia S13, S14, S15 and 180SX has front hard line delete lines and rear lines. New lines mean a full bleed, so it is a good time to fit a brake master cylinder or a big brake kit too. We recommend installation by a licensed mechanic.
The Silvia S13, S14, S15 and 180SX take our front hard line delete braided brake lines and our rear braided brake lines, sold separately. The front lines replace the factory flexible line and delete the hard line, and both are slightly longer than factory to suit bigger rotors.
The Skyline R33 GTR and R34 GTR with our 354mm front brake kit use the R33 / R34 GTR front hard line delete lines. The R33 GTS-T and R34 GTT with our 354mm Akebono brake kit use the R33 GTS-T / R34 GTT front lines, which have the extra length that kit needs.
