Requirements
Many MX-5 enthusiasts are aware that the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) fill plug on an NA/NB has a square head nut, and the corners often get rounded off due to over-tightening or regular wear and tear, as it is made of mild steel. The most effective way to loosen it is to use a plumber’s wrench, but this often damages the nut.
The HFM.Parts Gearbox fill plug is constructed from Stainless Steel 303 material and features a 17mm hex head design, which is slightly longer to facilitate easier removal.
